    Description

    American writer Harold Bell Wright (1872-1944) typed and signed this kind note to a fan, thanking him for wishing him a happy birthday.
    The letter reads in full: "My dear Mr Beach: I thank you very much for your kindly birthday wishes. It is good to know that I have friends through my books who care enough to write me such a charming letter."
    Harold Bell Wright was a wildly popular best-selling author during the first half of the 20th century. He was the first American writer to sell 1 million copies of a book and to make million from writing fiction. Wright's stories inspired numerous films, including Gary Cooper's first major movie,
    The Winning of Barbara Worth
    (1926) and the John Wayne film
    The Shepherd of the Hills
    (1941).
    Typed on a 10 1/2" x 7 1/4" sheet of "Harold Bell Wright Tucson Arizona" imprinted stationery.
    Condition:
